COURSING
WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING. The Wairarapa Coursing Club will hold its third meeting of the present season next Saturday at the enclosure, Akura, when an open stake for the Archer Cup and a maiden stake for the Vincent Trophy will be contested. Both events have been oversubscribed and the pick of the local dogs will be seen in action. The hares are in excellent condition and thrilling and exciting coursing is promised those who patronise this popular sport. In the Archer Cup Why Hurry, running in the nomination of Butcher Bros., would only require to run up to the form he displayed last season, when he divided the Waterloo Cup with Rereatu, to prove very hard to beat. Slippery and Roy will be racing for the first time this season and both are capable of winning in the best company. Dainty Footsteps was a winner at the last meeting and is sure to run well again, while Lady Hurley, Jeanne, The Clipper and Golden Veil have all shown promise at recent outings. The first course is timed to start at 2 p.m. and as usual afternoon tea will be available on the grounds. The draw for both events takes place tonight at the secretary’s rooms.
