Plain and Fancy Dress Ball.
This annual evpqt took place at the Town Hall, Sreytown, last night, and though the weather was anything bat favorabje there was a good attendance. The committee, consisting of Messrs J. Fuller, B. Bright, G. Jones, W. UJy. J. Jaoksoq, and T- Ingley, with Mr Webster as secretary, had worked with persistent zeal to make the hall look attractive by decorating it with flags, nikau, Ac., &o , and the whole had a very pretty effect. Basing into the supper room we found the table laid with delicacies of evaiy description. The snread was a most tempting one s-hd'rtfflwt'wl foe highest orpdjt upon Mr John Fabian, who filleted UpOff this occasion. The music was supplied by Messrs Heisenberg (piono), Lundqvist (violin), Papwortb (douo!! "hd), tmd Yetnhsm (cornet), and was all that could be desirfd- Ml Bright acted as MC. The attendance was not eqdal to that ol last year and the majoi.t,’ of those present were in plain dresses. As m>u I the ladies came out strong in fancy dress, sour' of them being remarkably good. Miss Bryant, as a Turkish lady, was on every hand admitted to be the belle, and the oriental style and richness of her dress was the admiration of all.
