The New Tariff.

On the conclusion of the Statement, which occupied two hours, the Colonial Treasurer moved the following resolutions :—That, in lieu of the duties of Customs now charged on the undermentioned articles, the following duties of Customs shall, on and after the Hth day of May, 1887, be charged thereon on importation into New Zealand, or on being cleared from suy warehouse for borne consumption namely (Here follows a list of articles). The duty on a great number of articles is doubled, amongst them being tartaric acid, cement, dried apples, paints (mixed), mustard, rice and varnish. Acetic acid is reduced from 6d to Id.
