Morrison’s Bush.
A correspondent writes te the recent school treat; — The people of the district were very pleased with the playing of the Martiuborough Brass Band, and to their kind and gratuitous services, the committee are greatly indebted for the dance music for the evening. The music was much liked by the company and several averred that in the Wairarapa they had not danced to better music. All this reflects the highestjcredit on the musical talent of the band, and especially oa the bandmaster, Mr M. Yarn ham. Messrs Barratt (violin) and Mr Hodge (piccolo) supplied the rest of the music, which was of a very agreeable character also. Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Mclntyre attended to the refreshments for the large company during the evening unaided. Mr Morrison was the only gentleman on the committee who gave any material aid and on him and the teachers of toe school depended the whole work of the day and preparations for the evening. The judges kindly gave prizes to two of those who were highly commended, both remarking they had not seen better sewing for youtg children. There was a largo meetiag of the residents at night, and the old committee were in attendance from 7to 11.30. Some did not get home till 12, and one or two till nearly one o’clock in the morning. The country members should, I think, arrange with city members to have (ho annual meeting* hold on moonlight nights.
