Terrible Catastrophe at Sea

300 LIVES LOST. Peexh, W.A., April 29. News has been received of a terrible disaster to the pearling fleet on the northwest coast. The fleet were anchored at the Ninetymile Leach above the De Grey Kiver on the 22ad inst, when on awful hurricane occurred. A' great number of boats were dismasted, and many were driven to sea, others being swamped. Scores of expert swimmers, trying to reach the shore, sank exhausted. Over 40 boats are missing, of which a large proportion sank ; others drifted to sea dismasted. It is calculated that fully 300 white and native divers have perished. Boats have gone from Cossack with stores searching for the missing boats. One of (he survivors says he saw the schooner Dawn sink with 60 men aboard. The hurricane lasted for fully 12 hours.
