A Sad Case.
Ifartka Jane Blyth, tb« young woman who ■x years ago eloped with Matthew Henderson, who committed suicide at the Empire Hotel, Wellington, wae charged at the Christchurch Police Court the other morning with concealment of a birth. She lived alone, »od last Thursday she told a little girl who sometimes attended her to make a large fire in the kitchen. She then sent the child away, telling her to return in an hotu. After coming back the girl went to attend to the fire, and found the body of a child burning. Her father informed the polioe. In the evening Detectives Neil and O'Connor went and found bones in the grate, which Dr Symes pronounced to be those of a child, but he bad not examined them carefully enough to say of what age. Accused denied having been confined. Accused was committed for trial. The defence is that she had n miscarriage.
