An accident which might have resulted seriously happened at Featherston on Monday. It is a book for all time, containing as it does a biographical sketch of 106 of the early defenders of New Zealand, with a Maor i history of the war.

A meeting of the Eaitara School Committee was held in the private residence of the teacher, on Saturday evening last, the schoolroom being occupied. Present—Messrs Ward (chairman), Wood, Mclntyre, and Mor> rison.
