Terrible Explosion at Sandhurst.
Melbourne, February 28,
A terrible explosion occurred at noon today in Mr Arblastor's military gunpowder factory in Job’s Gully, Sandhurst. The building took tire, and is still burning fiercely. Only one body bss yet been recovered. Font other*, including that of the proprietor’s son, are visible inside the burning building, but it is utterly impracticable to attempt to recover them at present. Several person* beside have been seriously burned, and many narrow escapes are reported. The explosion, which was heard for miles around, originated in a room where the powder is compressed by hydraulic power. The magazine, however, has not vet exploded. February 24. By the explosion six operatives lost their lives, the bodies being literally rosstsd. Two other workmen were aerionsly injured.
