Smith questioned whether it was not absolutely necessary that a schedule should have been lodged with the applies, tion, Mr Dowmau hoped that the loan would be approved, as a large expenditure would be necessary in several parts of his Ward, and this was the. opportunity of releasing the strain, which should not be lost. Mr Martin wished to know what large expenditure was likely to be incurred, and where the money was to corns (tom. If it was the bridge it ws« now in a very bad state aud the sooner it was attended to the better, Mr Dowraan, in reply, said one expenditure would be the deviation. Mr Kennedy thought the proposed loan was not sufficient, and that if a loan was raised the money should be expended in proportion on the roads where the rates were raised. Mr Martin then moved, That this meeting does not approve of the proposal now brought before it. Mr W. Smith seconded. And it being put to the meeting was declared carried. A poll will be taken at the Town Hall, Mattinbotough on 3rd March.
