Greytown Fire Brigade.

The Greytown Fire Brigade held a general meeting of members at their head quarters on Monday night. Present—Captain Maguire (in the chair), and a lull attendance of members. It was resolved that the Secretary be instructed to write to the Secretary of the Cricket Club, informing the Club that they must obtain written permission from the captain or officer in charge beiore taking the engine, aud that a sufficient number of members of the Brigade be obtained to work the engine and attend to the gear. Lieut Bowers proposed, and Fireman Braggms seconded, That a notice be placed in the Standard, announcing that any person tampering with any portion of the property of the Brigade will b© prosecuted. Proposed by Fireman F. Muir, seconded by Fireman Gardener, That Lieut Phillips be appointed engine keeper at a salary of £5 per annum, to be paid quarterly. Carried. On the proposition of Fireman Gray, Mr J. Maguire, Jan., was elected a member of the Fire Brigade. Tbo following officers were elected s— First Lieut, A. Bowers ; Second Lieut, G. Phillies; Ist Branchman, J. Hebley j 2nd Branchman, J. Quin; Secretary, C. Higgins. The following members were elected a management committee .—W. Yates, C. Amos, Gardener, Grigg, and the officers ei officio. A cordial vote of thanks was accorded the retiring secretary, Mr Muir. The meeting then adjourned until Monday week, when the treasurer's report and balance sheet will be received.
