Ostrich Farming.
Forty nine ostriches have been liberated at Auckland, by Mr Nissen, who holds some 10,000 acres on the Otumatea River. In Port Natal, South Africa, Mr Nissen chartered the Danish barque Johanne Broder sen for conveying his cargo of birds to Kaiapara, the birdg being selectee by himself from out of the best breedand troops of birds in South Africa, at a cost of 150 guineas each. The birds were shipped on board in Nov A male bird was accidentally killed during the voyage anil six otters were lost by sickness during the run from Port Natal.
