There was an excellent display of writing at the Spring Show, and there will be every encouragement given for a repetition of the same at the Autumn Show. School girls’ work will be another feature that will be given every encouragement, and our future wives and matrons will have an opportunity to show their coming fitness lor such important and honoured positions. It ;was resolved at the committee meeting to hold the Autumn Show on the 17tb March as it was thought by the committee that by selecting that day it would provide a double attraction and suit both the Friendly Societies’ sports and Horticultural Society ; the principal attendance at the show is in the evening, and parties visiting the Sports in the afternoon could finish up the day at the Town Hall and without either amuse--ment clashing.

Votes of thanks to the Band and Chairman closed the proceedings. It may also be mentioned that the Committee have instructed the Secretary to write thanking the ladies and the other judges for their services at the late show.

The lady judges will have some work to do at the next show as the entries in the needlework and fancy work are expected to be numerous.

If the Sports Committee consider it will deteriorate from the success of their meeting or in any way clash with the dance held in the evening very probably the Greytown Horticultural Society’s Committee will reconsider their decision and make their show to fall on some day either before or after the 17th inst.
