The Great Barrier Murder.
Caffrey and Penn have bad an interview when a thorough understanding was arrived at between them. The condemned men made separate confessions of the part played by them in tbe Barrier tragedy. Penn admitted having fired the last fatal shot, and Caffrey confessed he believed he had fired a shot into Taylor's body. The statements do not agree ith each other, and in tome particulars contra diet tbe evidence given at the trial, but throw considerable light on tbe tragedy. It is stated that a requisition is being signed for presentation to the Governor, praying that the recommendation to mercy by the jury in tbe case may be given effect to.
