The Late Meeting at the Schoolhouse.
To the Editor of the Standard. Bib, —The Chairman at the lata meeting at the Oreytown School (Mr Udy) should be ashamed of himself for writing such a letter as that which appeared on Wednesday, He knows very well that thirty hands were held up for the master, and only one against him, and if he had been anything of a chairman he would have pat the resolution to the meeting. He is no chairman, 1 regret to say. During that meeting auy person could speek is often as he pleased, and this was plain iu the case of Air Cotter, who was on his legs several times. I wish Mr Udy bad not written that letter, for it has called forth very unfavorable criticism from a large number of his fellow townsmen. The opinion is that his sympathies are with the committee, and that his letter tries to prove that the voice of the public was not given in favor of Mr Porritt. 1 say it was given, and there was no mistake about it, but, owing to the diiatoriness of the Chairman, or something worse, it was not put as it should have been. I am, die., Fain Play.
