The Greytown Rifle Volunteers mustered for inspection parade last night. Captain Cameron in command. Major Bunny, the inspecting officer, after having duly carried out tbe duties of tbe occasion, addressed the company, expressing tbe pleasure lie felt in seeing the members so attentive to their diili.

A fter parade the company held a meeting, and on tlie motion of Vol Sayers, seconded by Corpl Maguire tbe committee’s recommendation re capitation allowance was adopted. From the tone of the meeting it appeared that all the Greytown Volunteers weie determined to earn the full capitation it possible ; there were about 40 efficient lor the capitation now due, and there is no reason to doubt hut at the end ol the ensuing year they may number over 60 efficients. Two new members have been sworn in within the lost few days. The second competition for the Hon Chaplain’s Cup takes place at the Papawai range on Saturday next, at 2.30 pm.

The monthly inspection of the Carterton Rifle Volunteers takes place tonight. The Featherston Rifle Volunteers nnder Captain A. Donald met for inspection parade on Monday night. There was an excellent muster and the members ol tbe company are determined to all earn the fall capitation allowance this coming twelve months. Some great and notable acquisitions have been made to this corps within tbe last few days.
