THE EUROPEAN TROUBLE. London, January 9. Sixteen German garrisons at AlsaceLothringen have been doubled. Tbe navy aud marine pensioners at Portsmouth have been invited by the Imperial Government to volunteer for active service. Persistent rumors are in circulation that Russia ia preparing to enter upon the occupanon of Eoumelia as a preliminary step towards declaring war against Austria. A scheme is being initiated for the mobilisation of the British troops, under which England will be enabled to embark 600,000 troops at a moment’s notice. L'he English Government have decided to supply the army with the Austriau-Fitcber repeating rifle. Derr Fischer has gone to London to superintend the final trial of his rifle at Enfield. The Admiralty have decided to built fast cruisers.
January 10. It is anuouuced from Vienna that the relations between Austria aud Russia are cow daily improving. Prince George of Leutchenberg, an officer in the Russian army, is now mentioned as a probable candidate for tbe throne of Bulgaria in the place of Priooe Nicholas of Mingreha.
