H Steffort L 35 per annum, Wm Taylor L 35 ditto, and Beel the present ranger wrote, asking what fault they had to find with him, and stating that he was quite prepared to continue the duties of the office if the Board was agreeable. Mr Elgar moved and Mr Bidwill seconded that Beel be appointed if be accepts L 35 per annum L 5 less than bis present salary. Mr McDougall moved and Mr Harris seconded as an amendment that Steffort be appointed. The amendment was lost. The original motion was carried.

Notice was given that at the next meeting a motion would be made that by special order in the Road Boards Act a poll be taken in five and six wards to test the feeling of the ratepayers re borrowing under the new Loans Act.
