Railway Management.

To the Editor of the Slumlord. Sib,— Thanks to you for speaking out myou did m Friday’s Standabii about the way the excursion train of Saturday was rrmdi known in this district. I would gladly have goue to Wellington, hot 1 did not get my paper until six o’clock in the evening, living ns I do, seven miles away from a township. 1 bad work in hand that I could not leave, but I would have made other arrangements if I had known on Wednesday that a train at cheap fares would be ruu on Saturday The railway authorities ought to be ashamed of themselves for the blind way in which they manage their things. I think the settlers al round ought to speak up and let our repre eentatives know how we are treated. Will Mr Buchanan be kind enough to point out the injustice we suffer through the neglect of the railway department. I am, &0., Country Sbttler. To the Editor of the Standard. Sir, —Did the railway department issue tickets today at cheap fares for the convenience of the public ? No ! A gentleman in Greytown wrote to a Wellington paper asking that a train should be put on to allow Wairarapa people to see the new Opera House and the play of Silver King. To see these great sights cheap fares are arranged, but. devil a bit of this would have been done if there had been no Opera House. We can have special trains lor. football matches and theatre performances, but seldom one to enable the settlers to travel on business, or for their own especial delight. Who’s work is this ? Is it the Government’s or Mr Max well’s ? The people will yet know and demand an alteration. I am, ifco., Delta. Saturday, November 18.
