The Mutilated Body of a Child.

At the inquest held at Oamaru upon the remains of a child found by the police, evidence was given that a woman named Sol Borgensen gave birth to a female child two months ago, and a month afterwards removed to another cottage, taking her two children with her. She remained at the latter about a week, and then went to Dunedin with only one child, and told her friends that the other was with a woman named Sootl at Bast Taieri. The child had disappeared ee suddenly tbat the neighbors suspected foul play. Dr Garland’s evidence was tbat the body bad been mutilated, so as to destroy the sexual organs, to prevent identification. The inquest stands adjourned lor a fortnight, to give time tor further investigation. The woman is still at large.
