Volunteering.
The Greytown Rifle Volunteers mueteted for inspection parade on Monday night under Captain Cameron with Lieutenants Porritt and Trot man. There were only three absen* tees without leave. The Major Commanding complimented the men, saying that they now formed an excellent company. The Private Brass Band, under the leadership ol Mr Varnbam, was in attendance, and played some suitable selections to the pleasure of lha members. The officers afterwards instructed the secretary to write thanking them for their kind eervices and inviting them to be present npou future occasions. After the Company was dismissed, e general meeting of members took place, and Mr D. Cameron of Moroa was unanimously elected an honorary member of the corps. The new rules as revised were adopted as read, and some other busineas was transacted and the meeting adjourned. A squad was arranged to proceed to the bntts at Papawai, and arrange the targets, Ac. The next Inspection Parade will be on Tuesday, October 19tb.
