Railway Revenue.
The more miles of railway are made, the smaller the railway revenue becomes. The railway traffio returns for the first sixteen weeks of the current financial year are now complete. The total receipts for 1652 miles amounted to L 373.782, as against L 400.725 for only 1487 miles during the corresponding period of last year. In other woids, there are 105 more miles open, and the receipts are in round numbers L 27,000 less. The expenditure shows an increase of about L7OOO. being L 276.191, as against L 269.125. Consequently, the nett profit for the sixteen years is less this year than last by L 34.000.
