KIMBERLEY GOLD-FIELDS.

Sergeant Troy, of the W*it Australian Polio* Fom*, lately nude eoquiriei among th* digger* in the Kimberley Goldfield, and 38 aigned a report which waa read at a public meeting h*ld at Derby. The firat report waa signed by a well known digger, who says—This is the beginning or tail end of what I believe to be an extensive field ; bat there has been no extensive sinking, just only slight scratching on the surface. I am making fair wages. The second says—l got seven onnoea of gold, snd have not been away from Hall s Creek. I have been ill moat of the time since I arrived, with bad band and scurvy. I arrived here on December the 7th. 1885. A third one says—l have been digging ia Northern territory tor about ten years, and think there are good patches about. Have been digging on the Black El wire; make wage*. Another gives the same report. A filth says—Have had experience in Mew Zealand, also in Queensland diggings. I have got an average of half an ounce per day, bat expect to get on a better patch directly. 1 believe there ia an excellent dray road from D erty here, and nuke it 360 miles. A sixth say* that he thinks this is either the beginning or tail end of a field. He believes that gold will be found on the Mary river, and also on the Margaret as well as Ord. Think it is only patchy at present. Diggings principally at Mcl'hee’s Gully. A seventh says there is not much digging done at present for one reason—that there is no water on the field ; but he believes that a man with' a broom and shovel coaid do all they are doing at present, and get half an ounce per day. Ao eighth says—l have been a digger for 80 years, and one of a party of five. We started lot here in March. We have sue* needed in putting together 93 ounces. Thick the field is very scattered, and will not sus» tain more than 200 men. Another man standing by coincided with the aforesaid remarks, and also was one of the five. A tenth says—This is my second visit to the fields. 1 went down to Cambridge Gulf. Hava found a little gold. Found the Golf road very rough. Think Derby road best track, although 40 miles longer. An eleventh says—l am an old digger, and think the prospect of the field very good. I have bean digging in Hall and McPhee's Gully a little while, and have averaged a day ; that is, not counting stray nuggets. Another says—l and my mate have be en digging a short time, and have got 16 ounces; chiefly from M'Phee'a Gully. A thirteenth says—l am doing a little. This ia my second visit to the fields. I think Margaret Falls will tom out a very good field. I found there one long gully, but it is a good way from water. I had to get back to M'Phee’s. Am getting an average of one onnee per day. Mklboxjbxb, September 9. New* has been received from Port Darwin that 90 digger* have returned to that place bom Kimberley, and that several others are on their way. They report that bones are selling at Cambridge Gull at £2 pet head.
