The manager ot the National Mortgage and Agency Company (Limited) reports on the local markat as follows .—Shipping wheat— The market is strong, os Ad to 5s 6d per bushel being quoted. Halting barley is quieter but steady at 3s 9d to 4s 6d. Oats. —New Zealand feed sorts meet with moderate enquiry, with a slightly improved tendency, 3« 2d to 3s 4d. New Zealand milling dee* criptions remain steady at 3a 5d to 3s sd. Mew Zealand oats, under bond, 3s 5d to 2s 7d per bushel. September 9. News has been received from Ur Macdonald, Presbyterian missionary at Ha* vannah Harbor, New Hebrides, that tbe French an forcibly taking possession of land in these islands.
