Featherston.

- —* A meeting of those interested in the Blue Ribbon movement was held in the Highway Board Office on Monday night. The meeting was a most enthusiastic one, over 40 of the leading towspeople being present, including a number of ladies. The Rev Mr Ward, Greytown, was called to the chair. The chairman after explaining the object of the meeting, read the rules of the Wairarapa Union Blue Ribbon Aauociatiou. Several of these were made use of, the principal being as follows This Society shall be called the Featherston Temperauee and Blue Ribbon Association, Meetings to be held fortnightly—every alternate Wedneaday. Various committees to look altar registration of electors and ladies' vigilant committee, &o. The office bearers nominated were—P resident, D. T. Fry ; Vice-president*, £. Bezar and A. Donald ; secretary, W. H. Speakmau ; treasurer, R. Barton ; committee, Messra W. Fry, U. Cox, A. Yule, M. Reardon, A. Allen, F. Burt, W. Goodnck, T. Smith, sen. This Society intends adding a Fife and Dram Band to their own attractions. The thanks of the meeting were conveyed te the Highway Board Office for the use of the rooms, and the Rev J. Ward for so kindly presiding at the meeting and the active interest he took in the matter and help given to the Featherston Society. A meeting of the committee was held immediately after the meeting to make the usual arrangements.
