Taratahi-Carterton Road Board.

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Saturday. Present—Messrs B. Boys (chairman), H. Braithwaite, W. Booth, E. W. Dorset, J. Rayner, W. Parker and James Stevens.

The minutes of the last meeting were read a ndoonfirmed

The Clerk read the balance sheet in respect of different Wards.

The Chairman said that, taking into con.ideiatiou the heavy overdraft at the Bank he would suggest that the expenses be kept down as much us possible till the new rates were paiiiT The settlers on Dalefield Road wrote asking for some remuneration (or clearing out a drain.

It was resolved that the sum of £2 10s be paid. Mr Shaw wrote asking to bo allowed to run the fence in a straight line bv the road leading to his property in the Waingawa Gully. Left to the WaiUeu. Mr Ackerman wrote re having gursc cleatel off the toad near Mr Oats'.

Resolve! that Mr Oats be wiiiten to, to have the gorsc cleared off the road end that he be allowed to put agate across tho road. Mr Reynolds w;ote re some repairs. Request granted ; Mi W. P. Allan’s request was left to the Warden. A communication was received from the Waiohiue River Couservators rc levying river rate.

Moved by Mr booth, and seconded bv Mr Parker, Unit a ratu’be levied on all properties concerned. It was resolved that Mr Francis be written to, to remove the obstruction off Francis' linn within 7 days. Messrs W. Udy and Anderson were in attend nice, and Mr Udy handed in the sum of £lO collected on behalf of the bridge and .-waiup toad, and Mr Anderson gave a donation of £2 10s towards (he samp.

Tenders were opeued for the works and "Ole considered too high and the Warden Hsl.td lint fresh lenders be called for. Mr P. Carr was the successful tenderer for ih.s work known as Dakin's cutting, for £27 I Os; also for the Waingawa entlieg for £lO. Some discussion arose in respect to a road* pn posed to be laid off leading to Messrs Prir.v and Ravi.er's land,

Mr E, W. Dorset suggested that it be abandoned.

Mr booth moved, and Mr Brsitbwaite seconded, That it be gone on with, and that the mad be taken half n chain from the frceheld and half a chain bom the leasehold pmpeiths, and that .Mr Anderson be autholieed iosurvey the same. Accuunu wait passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
