Volunteer Church Parade.

The Greytown Volunteers mustered yesterday for Church Parade, under the command of Lieut D. Cameron with Lient Porritt. Ths Greytown Company attended to within nine of their full strength and the Papawai Native Oorps under Captain 0. J. Jury, also sent a detachment. The Private Braaa Band under ths leadership ot Mr M. E. Varaham to the number of 13. played the riflemen to 8t Lake’s Church, and the march music was very good. On arrival at tha church, the choir which was in full attendance, greeted the Volunteers with the “ Processional" and daring the morning a fall ehoral service was rendered, the singing being remarkably good. The Chaplain to the oorps, this Rev W. T. Western, preached a very appro* priats aarmon, and tha congregation, wbieb was a large one, listened to the exhortation ■ of the Minister with evident rapt attention. After (the morning service the Volunteers, beaded as before by the band, marched to the farther end ot the town where the Commandant announced that a lanoh was provided et Mr Hammerieh’a hotel fer those who came from a distance and others who elected to remain to participate; many of the Greytown Company, inolnding the officer! and alao the Native Volunteers, availed themselves of the host’s provision. Before being dismiss sd the Hon Chaplain addressed tbs oorps and expressed the greet satisfaction he felt at the improved appearance ot the Greytown Com. pany and also the soldierly bearing of the Native*. He informed the Greytown Company that he was so gratified at the contused interest the local Volunteers were showing in their duties that it waa his intention to present another cup to be shot lor this year by the members of the aforesaid corps and he trusted that the rifleman in tha town wonld always be a credit to their locality. He regretted that, owing ta want of time he eool i not join them at Inneb, bat wished his brother Volunteers to consider that he ever had their interests at heart and would always do his utmost to promote their welfare. On Tuesday night next the company will proceed to elect their Captain and other officers, lor which there are vacancies—and every member is required to attend. Thoee from a distance are requested to maks an effort to be present on this occasion meet prtioularly.
