Cost of the Census.
Th.2 total oost of the New Zealand census enumeration for 188G is stated to have been L')s9o, as against LBOB9 in 1881. The expenses lor the Wellington districts were as follows :—Wairaiapa East and West—--1881, L 230 ; 1880. L 256. Mutt and adjacent islands—lßßl, L 259 ; 1886, L3lB. These figures are emiuemly suggestive. When Mr Wardell had the preparation of the census it cost L 230. When the job was given to Mr Henry Bunny it cost L 856. How clever Mr Bunny is m making a goad haul. Mr Buuuy must be growing affluent, he has had such a lot of 11 hauls ” lately.
