Matthew Burnett.

With to-day’s paper we forward gratis to all our readers a pamphlet giving a deal of information about Mr Matthew Burnett, the noted temperance lecturer who is now in the Wairarapa, and a list of his engagements in the lower part of the Valley. On Sunday next he will preach for the Wesleyans—at Carterton in the morning, Matarawa in the afternoon, and Qreytown in the evening. On Monday he is to lecture in the Matarawa Schoolroom ; Tuesday and Wednesday in the Wesleyan Church, Qreytown; aud from Thursday till the following Sunday in tha Public Hall, Carterton. The week after he is to lecture in Gladstone, Morrison’s Bush, Martinborough and Featberston—each evening at half past seven. We have not ourselves listened to Mr Burnett, but have beard that be is one of those glowing whole-souled men who fans up within bis bearers what is good and noble. The fact of bis having secured upwards of 20,000 pledges in New Zealand and 115,000 pledges in Australia from all ranks of society, speaks for itself. Very rarely do public lecturers of his class visit other than the main centres of popula* tion. .We expect therefore that a large number of Wairarapians will take advantage of this opportunity of hearing a noted man.
