The part song, * 4 Sweet and Low/’ went very well, Mrs Cuff, Miss Bowler, Mr Gray and Mr Cuff taking part, and Miss Gray accompanying upon the instrument. This piece was marret by the crying of a baby in the body of the hall. Mr Coleman Phillips’ reading tickled the reader himself and the audience fairly roared with laughter at times. Miss £. Wyatt sang " Janet’s Choice," and her rendering of it drew a good round of applanse. The duet, sang in Italian, by Miss B. and F. Jonea, was the piece de resistance of the evening. Both these ladies, who hail from Otago, won the warm plandits of the entire audience by their aatistie and delightful rendering of an Italian duet, and the encore was pronounced and prolonged. Mist Hettie Bollard made her debut in the song “ Oh, Loving Heart Trust On," and though her .voice was rather low, she rendered the song very sweetly. Mrt Hecney played the accompaniment. Mr A. Gray wae warmly applauded for his song, ** 1 Never Can Forget/* .and the whole programme was brought to a con elusion by a local song, printed elsewhere, by Mr W. Nation, entitled “ That Sweet Kimberley, which was much relished and applauded. Dr Bey and Mr F H. Woed are the gentlemen entrusted with the preparations for next Monday's concert, and there are several “ entries ** already upon the programme.
