Hotel Accommodation.

To the Editor of the Standard.

Sir, —“ South Greytown ” has very‘properly called attention to the wants of this end of the town re a hotel, and I hope bis suggestion will be carried out. For a long time the residents of Greytown South have been longing to see a hotel erected, not merely for drinking purposes, but to afford accommodation to visitors. The want of this was manifest at the last races, and I shall be glad to support any steps taken to erect a building suitable somewhere below Mazton's bridge. There appears to be a desire among some to crowd all business places at the north end. This is a mistake. The erection recently of Cameron’s coach factory the residences of Mr Clifton and Mr Armstrong and the improvement to Mazton’s bakery show that this end of the town is growing. If the residents of Moroa, Papawai, Woodside, and the southern part of Greytown are awake to their interests they will support a petition to the Licensing Bench to get a hotel near to their own quarters. The opening of the Recreation Reserve and the new Racecourse alone are strong arguments in favor of it. and I hope it will not be long before steps are taken to erect a building. I am not speaking against the'right of Mr John Fabian to build where he likes, but I speak for my end of the town, and I think, all things considered, that the new hotel should have been nearer the site of the old Rising Sun.” I am, *O,, _ . ~ Resident. Greytown, May 1,1886.
