Board of Education.

Ihe monthly meeting of the Board of Education was held on Wednesday. There were present—Messrs Blair (chairman), lleelham, Buchanan, Yonug, the Mayor, an d the Kev J Paterson. A report with regard to the condition of several school houses nod teachers’ residences in the Wairarapu, were submitted by Mr Turnbull, the Board's architect. It was decided to expend not more than £SO upon repairing tire teacher’s residence, Greytown. Ou the motion of Mr Buchanan, it was resolved that tenders should be invited for the erection of a teacher's residence at Kai* t«ra, hut that nothing further should be done in the matter until the next meeting of the B, ard. Go the motion of Mr Beetham, it was resolved that tenders should be called for additions to the Pahiatua and Belvidert schools. Mr Beetham pave nopce that at the next meeting he would move— 11 That new schools be erected at AUredlou, Upper Maingata, and Wbakataki ; tenders to he received up to Wednesday, 12th May, and to bo dealt with by the Finance Committee and the Mayor, in order that the Works may be proceeded with with mt demy."
