Mr Freebody’s Case.
The sentence of two years’ imprisonment with hard labor upon Mr Preebody in connection with the cattle stealing case at the Taratahi, has roused a strong feeling of sympathy in bit favor. Hi* most intimate friends felt so sure that there was no evidence against him, and that he would be honorably acquitted, that they were dumbfounded when they heard of his conviction. Mr Preebody is known throughout the district as a most upright and honest man. In all bis transactions be has shown himself a tine gentleman, and the popular belief is that be is innocent of the charge. We believe that the Minister of Justice has been comnmnioalod with, but it rests with the pablio to take action, either by requisition or public meeting. We are glad to hear that a requisition is being signed. It should at ones be placed in ever; Wtimspa township.
