Greytown Licensing Committee.

To the Editor of the Star.d ml Sib, —The Greytown Licensing District is at present in a queer predicament; at tbs nomination for a Licensing Committee tbs other day only four names of candidates were received. The Returning Officer has de. dared these four candidates duiy elected, but the Licensing Act distinctly forbid* the return of any number less than five as a committee at the annual election, and the notification that these four gentlemen are duly elected is consequently null and void. Will the Returning oDicer look at the Act ? I am, Ac.. Swipes. We doubt if our correspondent is correct in his conclusion. The Act states that “ any licensing committee may act if a onorum exists, notwithstanding vacancies therein." He must remember that the Regulation of Local Elections Act must be read with the Licensing Act. — Ed.]
