The Wellington Mayoralty Election.
Tue election for the Wellington Mayoralty
took place on Wednesday, the result of tfin polling being as follows ; A. W. Brown .. .. .. (kT Samuel Brown.. .. .. 6"3 T. W. McKenzie ~ ~ 135 Joe Dranaiield ~ ~ ~ JO Total ~ .1 <• •• JC'Jt The result shows that Mr A. W. Brown has gained the day, with Mr Samuel Brown second, and Mr McKenzie a good third. The failure of Mr McKenzie to take first or second place in the contest simply sbowshowlittlereliai.ee is to be placed upon the promises of voters under the secrecy of the ballot system. He had over 700 pledged votes, and yet only polled 503 In Mr A. W. sßrown Wellington will have a good Mayor. Mr Brown is young, active, and has done good service to the people of Wellington as a member of the City Council and also of the Education Board. Ho is a decent straightforward fellow, and is essentially “ a man of the people.” The result of the election is therefore entirely satisfactory.
