The Show.

To the Editor of the Standard. Sib,— lt is perhaps not generally known the many attractions there will be, and how much superior theE. &W.C.P.<6 A. S. Show, to be held at Carterton on the 4th inst., is likely to prove to any of its predecessors ; a casual glance at the programme and catalogue of entries would hardly convey a correct idea of its importance. Opposition in this case seems to have had a very desirable effect, and the whole of the committee, from the President downwards, are to be congratulated tba t their energies have been so far rewarded by the large number of extra entries they have received in the face of their rival friends in North Wairarapa, and who seem rather chagrined at its probable success. Those gentlemen also who have been so liberal in their donations of cash prizes, amounting to about £l2O, are also deserving of the warmest thanks from all that are interested in seeing that the old established Show does not retrograde, although it has now a rival. Amongst the many attractions there will be I might mention the De Lavall Cream Separator, which should prove of special interest to all dairy farmers and many others besides. Another special feature of this Show, and which would be worth going to see alone, will be the fine show of ladies’ backs, and they are to be ridden by their fair owners, who of course will vie with each other in trying to obtain the liberal prizes given for the occasion fay several gentlemen. For my own part I hardly know which will be the most admired, the equestrians or their favorite palfreys ; but that they will attract considerable attention there is not slightest doubt. lam,<fen., W. S. W.
