Board of Education.
The monthly meeting of the Board of Education was held on Wednesday morning, There were present —Messrs J. IT Blair, G. Beetham, G. V Shannon, W. C. Buchanan, A. W. Brown, J. Young, Dr Newman, and the Rev J. Patterson. Mr Hogg attended before tire Board in support of a petition from a number of householders in .Masterton praying for the nation of another school district m that township. A petition was read from another section of householders praying] the Board not to divide the present district, on the -round tint the time had not armed when n was desirable such ft step should be taken. The Chairman explained to air Hogg that the policy of the Board was to concentrate and not to divide, and the matter under notice would be decided upon the question of pnn--iple. The matter was referred to Uie Injector (Mr Lee) for his report. letter was read from Mr John ivay, tendering his resignation as an assistant master in the Masterton School. The resignation was accepted. A letter was read from J. M. Beechy, Masterton. apn’ying for promotion. It was decided to promote the writer a step if the Masterton Committee do not object. Mr J. Bcynell was appointed an assistant master in the Masterton School, vice Mr Bethune, resigned. Mr Beechy was appointed to succeed Mr Kay as third assistant in the Masterton School.
It was decided to advertise for an assistant for the Carterton School. Miss Christina M'Kenzie was appointed an assistant in the Masterton School at a salary of £IOO. Miss Jessamine Gray was appointed a pupil teacher in the Masterton School. The question of altering the boundaries of the Clareville School District was left in the hands of the Carterton Committee. A sum of £7 was voted for effecting repairs to and purchasing a sewing table for the Kaitara School. —Post.
