Masonic Installation and Banquet.
The installation of WM and the investiture of officers of tho Greytown Masonic Lodge, No. 1720, 80, took place at the Lodge Boom, Greytown, on Wednesday. Hie Lodge was tyled soon after 4 p.m., and after being duly opened in the several degrees, the ceremony commenced. Bro I’M, 1L J. Williams was the installing officer, and the impressive ceremony was rendered in a manner well worthy of the importance of the same. A number of visiting brethren were present, repiescntiug Mastertou, Featherston, Carterton (" Pacific'’ West Coast), and other Lodges. IPM, A. Gray and PM’s J. Tally, J. IHillio, J. G. Cox, J. Skeet, D. P. Player, and WM's H. McMaster, and J. D. Oaltly, were present, and Bro B. Gray, the Master elect, was duly inducted into the responsibilities and duties of position. Bro PM Williams who has rendered his valuable services on many occasions, as installing master to tho several lodges in tho Wairarapa, carried out the important ceremony in a most aide and impressive manner, and tho district lodges '.may he congratulated upon being aide to secure his services. After tho installation the members and visiting brethren adjourned to Bro G. Jones’ Foresters’ Hotel where good justice was done to a splendid banquet provided by Mr and Mrs Atthur Jones. About thirty gentlemen were present ami all were unanimous in opinion that the spread was well worthy of the occasion. Among the brethren from visiting lodges were noticed —Bros Leynolds (JW) McSharc, Buckoridge, <»• Gardener, Curtis, It. li. Armstrong, Gayler, Wickerson, G. Jury, Ac. The /Lowing loyal and Masonie toasts were duly honored. The Queen and the Craft, proposed by the W.M. and received by tho company with musical honors. The Three Constitutions, proposed by the W.M.— received in the usual manner. The District Grand Lodge, proposed by Bin A. L.Webster, S.W. and responded to by Bro J. G. Cox, P.M. Hie Installing Master proposed by the W.M. and acknowledged by Bro 11. J. Williams P.M. in a very interesting speech suitable to the occasion. Officers of the Greytown Lodge proposed by Bro J.D. Oakly (W.M. Featherston) and duly acknowledged by liro Skeet P.M. Our Uetiring Master, proposed by the W.M. and replied to in very earnest and suitable terms by Bro A. Gray I.PAL, who has held the office for two consecutive years. Tho next toast, “ Our Visitors,” was proposed by Bro A. Gray I - P.M. and responded to by Bro Curtis. 'Hie newly initiated Brethren, proposed by Bro D. P. Player P.M,, was acknowledged in a veiy neat reply from Bro Gnyfer, ot Carterton. “The Host and Hostess ” was duly responded to, and tho last, the Tyler’s toast, All Poor and Distressed, Ac, proposed by Bro H. Cook, was received in tho usual impressive manner. The company separated at about 10. Id well satisfied with their entertainment. The vocal portion of tho proceedings, with two exceptions, was very weak ; no doubt tho absence of instrumental music was tho cause. Several very good recitations were contributed by Bros Gardener, Sheet, Williams, Oakly, and others. Wc should mention that Pro A, L. Wei sler was appointed SW : Bn Dy, JW; Bro N. King, SD ; Bro Heckler, .ID: Bro Skeet, PM, Treasurer; lire Player, I’M. Secretary ; J. Fuller, IG ; and Bo Cook, Wcr.
