Death of Mr John Sheehan, M.H.R.
Mr John Sheehan, M.tf.lL, died at I’elane, Napier, at 20 minutes to 1 on F'iday afternoon of inflammation of flic bruin. He bad been ill only a few days. Mr Sheehan was a native of Auckland, where his parents for a bng time kept the Governor Browne Hotel. In 1872 he entered the House of Itepresentatives ami was the first white native of New Zealand who attained ascat in the Parliament of the colony. Only a few weeks ago, on the elevation Captain Morris, to the Upper House, Mr Sheehan was elected to succeed him as member for Taurangn, defeating a former member —Mr Kelly—by the small majority of four. Me Sheehan, a little more than three years ago. married Miss Young, the daughter of an old settler at Malimaugi, Auckland. He leaves no family, Mr Sheehan was about •11 years of ago.
