Land Board.

At the Laud Board meeting yesterday the following transfers were agreed to:—Mr T. Palmer, section 29, block IX, Pohangina, to Mr E. Broderick; Mr J, H. Burmeister, section 1589, Kairanga, to Jas. Bell; Mr E, Carr, sectiou 30, block IX, Pohangina, to Mr J. H. Stevens. The Chairman reported that forfeited section 6, block XII., Mangahao, had not been improved by Mr I). F, McCarthy, the selector. Mr MoCardls said that the report was not correct. Between 12 and 15 acres had..beea cleared and laid down in grass. The Board decided that further enquiry should be made into the matter. Mr J. H. Corbett's application for a refund of the difference between the amount of the deferred payments and capitalised value of section 26, block VIH., Mangahao, was considered. It was decided to allow the matter to stand over until next meeting. The Chairman was instructed to see that in future the advantages of capitalising are pointed out to applicants for final payments. In compliance with a resolution passed at last meeting, tbe Chairman submitted a report on the proposed expenditure of about £15,000 upon roads to open up Crown lands. Borne of the amounts having been altered, the report, as amended, was adopted. On tbe motion of Mr MoCardle, seconded by Mr Beetham (who introduced the discussion on the subject), it was decided to recommend the Governor to withdraw from lease section 98, block XI., Kopuaranga, for the reason that a settler had, by mistake, effected certain improvements upon it. The question of offering farther land for cash sale was deferred until next meeting.—Post.
