Mr King explained to the Board the position of the !ino(of the said road, and also reported that 20 chains of the road had been let that were not contained in the specifications, and asked toe Board to adheio to the 26 chains of formation, and also to get the contractor to cut a ditch and place n large culvert opposite Mr McLauchiau s, in place of the small one that is at present there. The cost of this work would be— Draining LlB 4s, formation BO 10s, and large culvert Ll2, total L 36 14s. He also said that tho road proposed would not interfere with fences.

It was resolved that the contract for these alterations be left in tho hands of tho engineer.

Mr Gallon asked Mr King if the pegs on Waterson's line were in the centre of the road. The engineer replied that the pegs were as near the centre as be could get them from the information ho had received. It was resolved at the next meeting ol tho Board (20th March), to strike a rate in the Waiohine River District of three farthings in the £. It wae also subsequently resolved upon the motion ol Mr W. Booth, seconded by Mr Parker, to levy a rate of three farthings m the £ for the whole of tho to be payable in one sum, due May Ist, 1887. Mr Price, from Dalefield, attended, and complained of tho watercress growing in the creek running down by the jlalcfield road. He said the obstruction to tho creek was calculated to damage his property by backing the water on to same.

Mr Booth observed that the matter might be attended to alter the new rate had been struck, as money was required. Mr Gallon spoke to the effect that no money could be expended for that purpose until the rate was realised. A number of tenders were opened for the formation and metalling of Kokatau Road sec. No 2 (bo chains) and Hat of J. Snell, at L2 per chain (formation) was accepted by drawing lots, as another lender, that of P. Anderson, was for the same amount. Tenders were also received for Waterloo's Hood, sec 2 (10 chains) and that of Jenkins for L7O, or at the rate of LI 15s per chain, was accepted. The Treasurer prese tod his report. Mr H. R. Bunny moved, “ That tender* be called for three miles (more or less) of work (formation and clearing) to bo done on Plat Point Hoad from Waimiiotu river. The Chairman remarked that the Council intended to lay out some £ISOO on a bridge across the river, which be thought was necessary, but at the same time the settlers wanted money laid out on a road both right and left of the proposed bridge quite as badly, and he trusted funds could also be shortly obtained for that purpose. He thought it a great pity the funds were not at present forthcoming. Mr Bunny said there were about 50 chains of the Gladstono-Wainuioru road which wanted looking to very badly, especially uear the gate on the boundary of Mr Buchanan's land. It was resolved that tenders be called for the formation of 20 chains bridle track on the Wainuioru road. Mr Derrick was instructed to attend to the overflow of Red Creek Park road. It was resolved that the sum of LI 10s be spent in bush falling on Park road. It was resolved that the Treasurer expend one shilling per chain for some work to ba done on the cemetery road. Re special rate for work required on France’s line, it was resolved that No. 8 Ward contribute £yo, No 2 Ward, /yy, No x Ward £75, and the work to be supervised by Messrs Bunny, Reynolds. Grace and Dorset. Mr Meenkin made an application for something to be done to the road leading to his property. The matter was postponed.
