Quicksilver is a chesnnt roan, foaled in 1863 j bred by Mr James Coker, Dowuhane, Norfolk. Sire, Betts’ Fireaway ; dam by Baxter’s Performer, the fastest trotter in Norfolk, sold in 1863 to a French buyer for £SOO. Betts’ Fireaway is by Buyer’s Fireaway ; dam by old Priekwillow ; grand dam a noted Yorkshire trotting mare. Quicksilver, since his arrival in Canterbury in 1864, has been exhibited in all the principal shows, and in every instance carried od (he first prize, except once, when he was adjudged as having bean entered in a wrong class and the first prize was awarded to his son.
