The 34th Auckland provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union commenced in Auckland this maiming, and will continue until Friday. It is anticipated that about 100 delegates, representing the 12 subprovinces, will attend the sittings. Several remits urge the reduction or removal of protective customs taxes on British goods and the immediate revision of the Dominion tariff on the lines of the Ottawa agreement. It is advocated that farm lands be derated and that public meetings be held before county council elections, at which candidates should declare their attitude to this question.
