FROSTS ARE COMING!
Frost may be expected at any time now and preparations should be made against it. Frames are not frost proof but plants in them can be saved if sacks are laid over the “ lights ” at night. Even greater protection will be afforded if the sacks are filled with hay or straw. Marrows rot if touched by frost. Spread newspaper over them at night and you will save them for a little •longer. Ripening of tomatoes growing against a wall or fence out of doors can be helped by having the “ light ” from an unused frame sloped ever them. The greenhouse should be all right for some time yet but if a severe frost is anticipated, a small oil stove, burning practically no oil, can be lighted each evening, and will make everything safe.
