A ! Christchurch contractor, Mr W. Williamson, was the successful tenderer for all work in connection with the reconstruction of the Wairoa Freezing Works. Twelve tenders were received from firms ranging from Auckland to Christchurch. The value of the whole reconstruction work is in the vicinity of £40,000. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, and Mrs Foi’bes, were the principal guests at the Eltham, jubilee celebrations yesterday, receiving an enthusiastic reception at all functions. It was Mr Forbes’ first visit as Prime Minister. Mr and Mrs Forbes were present at the pioneers’ reunion in the afternoon. In the evening they received 18 debutantes at the jubilee ball.
