WAIKATO MARKETS. CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Company, Limited, Hamilton, report on_their Cambridge stock sale held on Monday as follows: —The yarding of cattle was an exceptionally large one, but there was again a scarcity of finished fat cattle. There was a good demand, a complete clearance being effected at current quotations. The yarding also included a large draft of store bullocks, which failed to sell at auction, but were subsequently booked at satisfactory prices. In the dairy section only a portion of the entry changed hands, the majority not reaching vendors’ reserves. The advertised line of store wethers did not sell under the hammer, but were later booked at reserved price. A fairly free sale resulted in the pig section, where the entire entry of mostly stores and weaners changed hands at recent rates. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company reports: At the weekly stock sale at Frankton last Tuesday there was a short supply of both fat wethers and ewes, and as a result prices showed a marked increase, especially for fat ewes, which sold at 2s per head better than last week. Fat lambs were yarded in medium numbers, and sold at slightly firmer rates. An average yarding of ox beef came forward, quotations showing no alteration on late rates. There was again a heavy yarding of cow and heifer beef, With a good proportion of good-quality animals. These sold at equ'al to last week’s values, while second-quality and boner cows maintained schedule rates. There was a smaller yarding of fat pigs, but a larger entry of stores and weaners. Parctically no heavy baeon-. ers were yarded, and values for ali fat pigs were on a par with last week’s sale. The store pig section showed a tendency to firm. cantile Agency Company reports: At Frankton on Tuesday conditions were to vendors’ advantage in all sections, as, with a slightly smaller entry and a strong demand, medium-quality sheep advanced appreciably, while prime sheep were fully 2s per head in advance of last week’s rates. Lamb prices also were a shade better, exporters operating keenly. Prime heavy wethers made 25s to 27s 9d, good-quality ditto 22s to 24s 6d, medium ditto 21s to 22s 6d, heavy fat ewes 20s to 225, medium ditto 16s to 19s, light ditto 12s 6d to 15s, prime heavy lambs 24s to 25s 3cx, goodquality ditto 21s to 23s 6d, medium ditto 16s to 20s, forward ditto to 15s, medium store wethers 16s Bd. In the ox beef section an improved demand did not reflect in better prices, since a- much heavier yarding was entered, values secured being level with last week’s rates. Notwithstanding that the cow beef entry was a very heavy one, and also representative, a fair proportion being quality animals, prices throughout showed an advancing tendency, quality beef values especially being decidedly better. Stoi-e cows sold without any change being recorded. Heavy fat bullocks made £6 5s to £6 16s, medium ditto £5 10s to £6, lighter ditto £4 15s to £5 ss, extra prime cows and heifers £4 17s Gd to £5, prime ditto £3 15s to £4 12s 6d, good-qulality fat cows £2 15s to £3; lighter ditto £2 7s 6d to £2 12s 6d, forward cows £1 18s to £2 ss, meaty store cows £1 8s to £1 16s, medium ditto £1 4s to £1 7s 6d, boners 18s to £1 3s, good vealers £1 13s to £2 3s. A smaller yarding of fat pigs came forward, and sold on about a par with late rates. A full entry of stores and weaners elicited keen competition, and remained firm. Medium baconers made £2 10s to £2 18s, light ditto and heavy porkers £2 2s to £2 9s, medium porkers £1 15s to £2, light ditto £1 5s to £1 10s, good stores 17s to 19s, poorer ditto 15s to 16s Gd, slips 12s to 16s, good weaners 7s to 11s, inferior ditto 5s to 6s 6d.
