FARMERS' INTERESTS
PROTECTION COMMITTEE. At a general meeting of Te Awamutu district farmers it was decided to form ‘a Farmers’ Union Protection Committee and that the subscription of non-Farmers’ Union members be 2s Gd. An executive of the Committee was appointed consisting of Messrs A. S. Wyllie (chairman), J. G Butterworth (secretary), B. H. Budden, W. McGee, and G. T. Crowley. The objects of the Protection Committee are:—-(a) To co-ordinate the interest of farmers inside and outside the Union; (b) To advise and assist farmers in difficulties under seal of confidence; (c) To assist by all possible constitutional means any unjust treatment of farmers who are in difficulties owing to economic conditions.
Membership and qualifications:— Farmers occupying land under any tenure.
The subscription for members of the Farmers’ Union is to be determined by the local branch.
Regarding' management, it was decided that (1) The Executive Committee will consist of the chairman, secretary and two members elected by the general meeting of the Protection Committee and three members nominated by the local branch of the Farmers’ Union. (2) The Executive Committee will appoint a Confidence Committee of two to deal with all confidentia! matters. (3) The Executive shall call an annual meeting in April of each year, the chairman to report on the previous year’s work, and the secretary to submit a balance sheet. The report and balance sheet will be forwarded to the local branch of the Farmers’ Union and a copy of the report to the Auckland Executive of the Farmers’ Union.
