THE EXCHANGE POOL
DAIRY ASSOCIATION'S VIEWS. HAMILTON, Monday. The overseas exchange credits pool was discussed at the annual meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association in Hamilton to-day. Mr Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, said the action taken by the Government was wrong in principle, but he ;did, not think it advisable to take reprisals, * which might be regarded as revolutionary. I*' Mr Fulton said he had asked the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, for a definite assurance that if all the exports were sent away the exchange pool would be lifted by the end of June. Mr Forbes replied. "As far as the Government is concerned it will. If not, the Government will want to know the reason why." It looked as though, "as far somebody else was concerned," the pool might not be lifted, added Mr Fulton. On the suggestion of Mr Fulton a was passed asking the Exchange Committee that, if the Order-in-Council was not lifted by the end of June the matter should be referred back to the producers' associations.
