Miss Chapman, of Pahiatua, is the guest of Mrs Bevin. Mu's Hume, of Auckland, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs D. Williams.

Miss Wyatt, of Hamilton, has been visiting Mrs Blundell. Mrs J. Oliphant returned last week from a visit to Auckland. Miss F. Jolly, of Hamilton, has been the guest of Mrs J. Oliphant for the week-end.

Mrs Chas. Mcßride, and her daughter, of Takapuna, have been spending a few days with Mrs H. de L. Peake, of Hairini.

Miss Eyre, of Mutu Street, returned on Saturday last from an extended visit to relatives at Waimai and Onewhero. 'Dr Eoberton underwent an operation for appendicitis at Te Whareora Private Hospital on Monday morning. He is now progressing favourably. Mrs C. T. Rickit and her daughters (Mesdames C. A. Reilly and P. L. Dunn) returned home during the week-end from Raglan, where they had spent a fortnight at their beach cottage. Mrs Wilkinson (formerly of Okoroire), wife of Rev. Lionel Wilkinson, is at present on a visit from England to relatives dn the Waikato, and is at present the guest of Mrs Raymond Jones, of Kihikihi Road, Te Awamutu.

The local Girl Guides are holding their fifth "birthday party" in the Parish Hall on Friday evening. It is hoped that the Divisional Commissioner, Mrs H. Toombs, will be able to be present and visitors are also expected from Cambridge, Otorohanga and other companies.

A party of Te Awamutu residents, including Mr and Mrs H. E. G. Wilson, Mr and Mrs H. Ward, and Mr and Mrs H. Lines, with their families, who have been spending a holiday at Waihi Beach, returned home on Sunday. Word was received in Otorohanga yesterday morning of the death the previous day at Te Aroha of Mrs Mary Borrie, a very old resident of the Waihou district, and mother of Mrs W. R. Johnson, whose husband is well-known in the Otorohanga district as former engineer to the Mangapu Drainage Board.
