MOTOR DRIVER FINED
ILLEGALLY PLYING FOR HIRE. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A prosecution by the Wellington City Council against James Billings, motor~driver, plying for hire between Wellington and Johnsonville, is the; first case brought under the Transport' Licensing Act, which came into force j on November 11. The Magistrate held that Billings' vehicle was not one available for! hire as a taxi within the meaning of the exception to the definition- of a passenger service vehicle as defined in the Act. iA fine of £5 and costs was imposed*
