. HAMILTON STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton Yards on Tuesday. A short yarding of fat cattle resulted in a sharp increase in prices while sheep were in poorer demand owing to a heavy yarding. Cattle: The entry consisted mainly of fairly good quality fat cows. Competition throughout was spirited, and prices show a decided advance on last week’s rates, the increase being due to the small yarding. Store cattle were yarded in about usual numbers, the demand remaining steady. The small entry of dairy cows were not wanted at the reserve prices. - We quote: Prime fat cows £6 8s to £7 7s 6d, lighter quality do £4 17s to £6 7s 6d, light and unfinished £3 5s to £4 15s, forward conditioned do £2 7s 6d to, £3 2s 6d store cows £1 5s to £1 14s. Sheep: The fairly heavy yarding of both fat ewes and wethers realised prices showing a slight decrease on last .week’s quotations. Fat lambs
of which an average yarding were offered, maintained late rates. Store lambs met with a good sale. We quote: Fat wethers 12s to 13s 9d, lighter 10s 9d to 11s 6d, fat ewes 9s 3d to 10s 9d, light quality 8s 3d to 9s, prime fat lambs to 12s lid, fat do 9s 6d to 11s 6d, light fat lambs 6s lOd to Bs, store lambs 7s 2d. Pigs: Competition for an average yarding of fat pigs was steady, last week’s prices being fully maintained. The number of stores and weaners penned was fewer than at last week’s sale.) Prices for stores receded slightly. We quote: Heavy baconers £2 15s to £d 9s, medium quality baconers £2 2s to £2 12s, light baconers and heavy porkers £1 16s to £2 Is, light porkers £1 9s to £1 14s, good stores 18s to £1 3s, poorer do 13s 6d to l/s, weaners 5s to 12s 6d.
